Q1 exchange visa is for international cultural exchange programs designated by USCIS.  The purpose of the program is for providing practical training and employment, and to share the history, culture, and traditions of the applicant’s home country with the US.  Applicants may be eligible for a visa if they are seeking to participate in an international cultural exchange program.

Only employers who administer cultural exchange programs are allowed to petition for Q1 exchange visa applications.  The purpose of the visa is to facilitate the sharing of international cultures. The Q1 exchange visa program is an employment oriented program, but an integral part of the applicant’s duties must have a cultural element.  A visa applicant must be at least 18 years old and be able to communicate effectively about the cultural attributes of their country.  Generally, such visas are prepared by the US sponsor or an organization appointed by a government agency.
